Report Builder

The Report Builder (also called a binder) assembles an ordered list of sections into one continuous, print-ready PDF — cover page, table of contents, your calculation tabs, and any PDF attachments — with a live preview of the finished document.

This is how you turn a project into a submittal.

Creating a binder

In the left sidebar, click the + beside the Report Builder heading. A new binder starts with a Cover and a Table of Contents already in place.

note

Report Builder is created only from the sidebar — it isn't in the Home → New menu.

Adding sections

Use + Add section in the binder's Sections panel. It offers three groups:

  • Content tabs — any Report, Sheet, Document, or Drawing tab in the project. Tabs already in the binder are marked with a ✓.
  • NewBlank rich-text section, which creates a new Document tab named "Notes" and adds it.
  • Generated — Cover, Table of Contents, Index, Divider Page.

Attach PDF adds an uploaded PDF — a cut sheet, a vendor letter — as its own section.

Sections can be dragged to reorder, renamed, or removed. They may appear in any order; nothing forces the cover to be first or the TOC to be second.

Cover page

Under Settings → Cover Layout:

  • Template — Classic, Modern, Banner, or Minimal
  • Extra fields — Subtitle, Revision, Prepared For
  • Seal / stamp image upload
  • Use document as cover — render a Document tab as the cover instead of a template. (Choosing this disables the template picker.)

Cover and running-header details — Title, Company, Designer, Project #, Date, and a logo — live on the binder's Settings tab and apply to both the cover and the page header.

Table of contents

Open the ⚙ on the TOC row:

  • Detail level — headings only (H1), H1–H2, or all levels
  • Dot leaders — on by default
  • Section titles only — suppress the auto-collected headings

Per-section options

Each content section has its own ⚙ popover:

  • Include in table of contents (on by default)
  • TOC title override
  • Sheet range — e.g. A1:D50, for sheet sections
  • Start on odd page — inserts a blank filler page so the section opens on a right-hand page

PDF attachments instead expose a page range (1-3,7; blank means all pages) and an include chrome checkbox that keeps the binder header and footer on the attached pages. By default attachments print full-bleed.

Preflight

Above the preview, a preflight bar reports either Ready to export — N pages or an expandable list of problems:

CheckSeverity
A section points at a tab that no longer existsError
A section rendered zero pagesWarning
The binder has no content sectionsWarning
The same tab is included more than onceWarning
A report box is taller than a page and will be clippedWarning

Preflight also lists each section with its page range (p. 3–7) and gives you an Export button to export that one section on its own.

Export

Export PDF in the binder header compiles every section into a single paginated document and prints it. The output is vector: selectable text, crisp KaTeX, and charts embedded as high-DPI images. Attached PDFs are merged in at their assigned positions.
