Templates and Data Tables
Templates are complete, code-referenced calculations you can insert and edit. Data tables are the engineering reference data behind them — steel shapes, rebar properties, load combinations — insertable as sheets.
Both live on the Templates ribbon tab.
Inserting a template
Templates → Browse Templates opens the template gallery. Search by name, description, category, or standard, and filter by category: Loading, Foundation, Concrete, Masonry.
Select a template to see its full description, the code it cites, and the list of tabs it will add. Double-click, or press Load Template, to insert it.
Every shipped template is a package (marked PKG): inserting it creates several linked
tabs at once — typically a report plus the sheets and drawings it depends on — and makes
the primary report tab active.

Editing a template
Templates put their inputs on the report itself, as ordinary value boxes and dropdown boxes near the top. Change an input and every downstream result, chart, and drawing recomputes.
Parametric templates go further: choosing a different design method or code edition can show or hide whole sections of the report, and the layout reflows to close the gap.
Saving your own template
With a project open, choose Save current as template… at the bottom of the template gallery. EngCanvas packages every non-empty tab (the active tab becomes the primary one) and downloads it as a JSON template package you can share or re-import.
Data tables
Templates → Data Tables opens a picker of built-in engineering reference tables. Pick
one, preview its columns and first rows, and insert it as a new sheet — then look values up
with VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, or XLOOKUP.
